MotherCircle is an 8-week guided course for women who are mothering children they didn’t birth—through adoption, step-parenting, kinship care, or other life paths. It’s a space to explore, clarify, and gently metabolize the often unseen and complex layers of your mothering experience. Together, we create time and space to tend to what is rarely spoken or named—the physical, emotional, spiritual, sexual, archetypal, and ancestral dimensions of mothering. We also honor the tender and complicated truths woven into the reality of raising a child born of another woman’s womb.
Rooted in the thoughtfully crafted curriculum of Kimberly Ann Johnson and grounded in trust, MotherCircle offers a place for reflection, connection, and community. Through shared wisdom and intentional practices, participants are supported in honoring their unique journey, finding meaning, and weaving it into the story of their lives—together.

The power of practicing Circle wisdom
Women circling is the oldest code. Ancient wisdom abound and modern research tells us that when women gather, their mental health drastically improves. And when mothers thrive, communities thrive.

Our lived experience tells us that adoption is multi-dimensional,
with much of it remaining un-named.
In the world of adoption, opinions abound--about the reasons we became adoptive mothers, the stories of our children and their birth parents, and the projections and conclusions placed on our children and us as mothers. Adoption can be seen as controversial and complex, but we also know it to be sacred and beautiful.
We've created a space where we are committed to exploring not just the universality of motherhood, but also the unique complexities of adoption.
